The case management officer, under the direct supervision of the Senior Child Protection Officer and the overall guidance of the Non-Formal Education Project Manager, is primarily responsible for conducting case management activities including service mapping, case identification follow up and successful closure of cases in Adolescent Friendly Canters (AFC) in Antakya and Iskenderun. The post holder is expected to work with the Syrian population and local community targeted by the AFCs and to visit the referred households on a regular basis.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Lead on and regularly update a map existing services (health, child protection, education, legal services etc) to which children and families can be referred to. Pay regular visits to local and international service providers and support effective collaboration.
Respect confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines
Work in close collaboration with the child protection team to strengthen role of child protection networks/committees in case management
Rôles et responsabProvide targeted assistance to adolescents and youth in need through leading on the case management cycle from identification, assessment, documentation, referral (to relevant services) and follow-up
Conduct family visits under the supervision of Senior Child Protection Officer
Use the files, registers and computer databases in an appropriate and correct manner and adhere to proper documentation and data protection protocols
As part of maintenance to the case management beneficiary database, follow up on cases, ensure all cases are managed within acceptable timelines, provide regular updates on unclosed cases and identify actions needed to ensure timely closure.
Prepare procurement and administrative documents required for case management implementation.
Support the Child Protection Manager / Child Protection Adviser in capacity building of outreach workers
Attend weekly case management meetings with all case management officers and outreach workers
Coordinate with other agencies offering case management services to children on referral and transfer of cases
Support the set up and facilitation of regular inter- agency case coordination meetings
Ensure internal referral mechanisms (with other sectors) are in place and cases are appropriately managed and followed up when referred
ACCOUNTABILITY AND LEARNING
Ensure constant and transparent communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including community members, community leaders and families
Document best practice, case studies and learning
Share information on field-level successes and challenges with the Senior Child Protection Officer and other agencies as appropriate. Ensure that major challenges are flagged early, and addressed in an appropriate way;
Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of child protection risks in Save the Children operational areas.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:
University degree in social work, social sciences or other relevant field.
Extensive work experience of working directly with children and adolescents
Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in child protection case management, child protection programmes or related field
Experience in community mobilisation and conducting outreach activities
Good understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms
Strong interpersonal skills, ethical sensitivity and ability to empathise with children and their carers
Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
Able to work to tight deadlines under pressure
Fluent written and spoken Arabic
Competent written and spoken English
Commitment to upholding Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy, as well as principles of do no harm and confidentiality.
Advanced degree in Psychology, Mental Health or similar
Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions
Competent spoken Turkish
Knowledge and understanding of inter-agency standards and guidelines in child protection, including the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action
