Support to Life is an independent humanitarian agency working in the field of disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness, and emergency response in Turkey and the surrounding region. With an emphasis on community participation, STL works at a grassroots level to build local capacity, mitigate the risks and impact of disasters, and support those in need in meeting their basic needs and rights.
In line with its mandate STL currently has the following main activities:
Refugee Support Program: in response to the increasing number of refugees in Turkey, STL is supporting refugees living outside camps in the Turkish border area through a food security programme providing psychosocial support through the establishment of Community Centres;
Child Protection Program: STL has been providing protection services and psychosocial care for Syrian children and children affected by seasonal agricultural migration. Targeting both at-risk and working children among the refugees as well as the host community, STL has been supporting children’s education through life skills activities, awareness raising sessions and
Civil Society Disaster Platform: in collaboration with partners, STL has launched a platform that will bring together civil society actors in sharing information and coordinating projects related to disaster management in
Position: Skills Building Project Officer
Responsible to: Team Leader
Start Date: ASAP
The post holder is responsible for supporting the implementation and development of skills building courses and outreach activities in a community center for Syrian refugees, supervising and planning the activities, managing relevant data and supporting monitoring and evaluation systems. This full-time position is based in Hatay.
Manage the records, files, folders, and supportive documents of centre activities
Ensure that all activities are duly recorded in the database;
Attend relevant meetings under supervision of the community center manager with the centre team and stakeholders and take notes for preparing minutes,
Support CCM in modification of centre activity strategy and in defining need areas for further intervention by the centres,
Designing new skills building activities; both language and creative vocational courses for Syrian refugees in the community center and outreach activities,
Plans each term’s courses, manages time and field workers’/teachers’ schedule,
Manages organisational and administrative processes of the skills building department in the Community Centre with the support of field
Maintain good, effective communication with all STL colleagues and departments, internal and external partners, strengthen the network with local partners and liaise with health facilities and relevant actors.
Monitor the team planning and collaboration among fieldworkers, supervise the field workers responsible for referrals and do follow up
University education in a relevant field,
Training in a relevant field such as, social work, youth work, and education is desirable,
Fluency in English and Arabic (excellent written and spoken),
Sound knowledge of and skills in needs assessment, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation,
MS Office proficiency,
Strong commitment to teamwork and coordination,
Intercultural understanding, sensitivity and
