Health Officer Antakya with travel to Syria

To ensure quality implementation of the health programme. This includes participation in technical assessments, collection of health data, implementation, monitoring, documentation and reporting of the project as well as supervision and support of health partners, contribution to overall health programme, its appropriateness and quality.
In an integrated response, the Health Officer will link closely with other respective sectors to ensure maximum possible integration of the project activities.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Programme implementation and Quality
identification of key public health risks to the beneficiary community and suggest solutions
Work with other sectors, particularly nutrition, WASH, infrastructure, to ensure integrated programming is part of the planning and implementation, wherever possible
Assessment of new sites and communities for health programme implementation
Collect information regarding the overall health situation and needs
Identify capacity building requirements for health facility staff and facilitate training initiatives
Ensure project implementation timelines are followed and incorporated into weekly and monthly workplans
Facilitate timely data collection and reporting from supported health facilities
Work closely with health coordinator and other members of the team including support staff (e.g. logistics, finance, administration) to ensure smooth operation
Ensure that quality assurance tools (SoPs, monitoring checklists, case definitions, treatment protocols, HIS) are being used effectively
Ensure good-practices on waste management are followed at health facilities
Ensure regular supply of medicines is maintained at supported health facilities
Medicines are stored as per global good practices
Medicines consumption records are maintained and shared
Spot-checks of warehouses and health facilities are done on a regular basis
Identify pharmaceutical needs for the programme based on health facilities consumption records
Actively engage with partner’s management and implementation staff in the field to follow project progress
Act as Save the Children point-of-contact for health facilities’ managers
Where possible work with community members, including children, to effectively monitor the implementation and impact of the health programme
Ensure timely data collection and reporting to field and country offices
Contribute quantitative and qualitative aspects of project reports
Work closely with MEAL team to generate regular monitoring reports
Other duties as assigned by line manager
Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES:
Doctor/Nurse/Clinician degree in related disciplines OR equivalent experience in the health sector
Previous experience of working in the health sector in Syria
Good understanding of health issues within affected community
Good understanding of local humanitarian context
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to take initiative and work both in a team and independently
Flexible and positive approach to work
Able to work in a stressful and changing environment with limited resources
Willingness to stay at different base and field locations depending on the needs of the programme
Concern for the wellbeing of children and interest in Child Rights
Valid residency in Turkey
