Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a prominent international organization working in relief, rehabilitation, protection, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression.
Working in coordination with the humanitarian community, the IRC currently addresses the needs of war-affected Syrians from several operational bases in the region. Our activities in the region focus primarily on the supply of vital medications and medical equipment, non-food items, water, sanitation and hygiene and child protection and form part of an over-arching humanitarian response in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and the region that seeks to assist refugees, IDPs and war-affected Syrians survive conflict and displacement.
This position will be based in Reyhanli, Turkey and focus on supporting the implementation of protection rule of law (PRoL) programs in southern Turkey. The IRC is scaling up its Protection and Rule of Law, and Women’s Protection and Empowerment portfolio in Turkey programs including community protection. The outreach officer will play a key role in supporting the development of information campaigns, supporting self-governance community structures and mapping relevant service providers. The Outreach Officer will report directly to the Senior Community Mobilization officer.
The community mobilization officer will directly work with communities to support committees and community responses to protection concerns:
Network with social welfare providers in order to map service networks for referral;
Design and implement information campaigns, written and oral, with the support of the Protection Manager and Senior Community Mobilization Officer (including leaflets, posters, bulletin boards, radio broadcasts and others) according to needs identified
Keep an up-to-date referral database including relevant profile info, follow up actions and updates provided by different stakeholders
Support the identification of trainings needs and the roll out of training modules to community members as required
Provide input regarding information needs and contribute to the development of informational and awareness-raising materials, including through collaboration and consultation with community members
Support the committees to develop and implement quick impact projects in the community
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs.
All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.
2years NGO experience in management of protection programs.
Bachelor degree in English, Law, Social Work, International Relations or another relevant field.
Demonstrated experience in capacity building and training.
Competency in writing progress and donor reports.
Good computer skills such as: MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well.
Fluency in English and Arabic required; Turkish preferred.
Must be either Turkish National or Syrian National with a valid residency permit.
