Background: Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a prominent international organization working in relief, rehabilitation, protection, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression.
Working in coordination with the humanitarian community, IRC currently addresses the needs of war-affected Syrians from several operational bases in the region. Our activities focus primarily on the supply of vital medications and medical equipment, non-food items, water and sanitation, education and child protection and form part of an over-arching humanitarian response in the region that seeks to assist refugees, IDPs and war-affected Syrians survive conflict and displacement.
The IRC is piloting a stand-alone protection programming in northern/south west Idleb in Syria that consists of two folds- 1) protection mobile teams directly implement community and protection services including protection monitoring, referrals, dissemination of information and advocacy to vulnerable Syrian IDPs, 2) community empowerment through community-based protection and advocacy to increase the ability of IDP communities in Northern Idleb to overcome barriers to durable solutions through training community representation committees to identify needs within their communities, advocate to local government and refer them to service providers for intervention. The IRC is also planning to implement protection services to refugees inside Tukrey that will include protection monitoring, referrals and information dissemination.
Job Overview/Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Information officer, the Information management Officer will be based in Antakya and is responsible for obtaining reliable protection data/information from the field through ongoing coordination, information review and provision of feedback to the protection needs assessors. He/ She will also be responsible of translating data/information into English and data entry into the protection database in addition to generating protection reports.
The Information management Officer will provide guidance to Protection Needs assessors on accurate information collection in the field using the relevant Protection Monitoring Forms provided by the IRC. The information management Officer will ensure timely submission and quality of Protection Needs assessors’ deliverables to the Protection Manager on a weekly basis.
Ensure receiving timely, accurate of the complete protection information / data from the field;
Review the received information /data to make sure the received information is accurate/timely and consistence;
Compile, clean, translate and maintain all received data in the sharing drive;
Communication and collaboration with the senior protection monitoring officer and other relevant parties to obtain detailed and reliable protection monitoring data as needed;
Highlight new action points and follow up with the senior information management officer on the progress against protection action points in previous reporting periods;
Translate the information received from the field into English as needed;
Generate Protection monitoring reports using IRC developed forms/database in English language and submit the draft to the Senior Information management officer for consolidation/review to meet the timeline;
Provide basic analysis for the data when required;
Build protection tools in ODK form or other forms as needed;
Provide ongoing support to the Protection Needs assessors on accurate data collection methods and use of protection monitoring forms in the field;
Ensure consistent communication with senior information management officer and other information management officers;
Perform other duties, as needed or requested by the supervisor.

Other Internal and/or external contacts:
Internal: Senior information management officer, Protection manager, Protection Coordinator, Program staff.
Very Good English language skills, oral and written, and the ability to translate from Arabic to English;
Very good analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail;
Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines;
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently;
Very Good experience in using Microsoft applications and databases.
Flexible and able to work in a dynamic and diverse environment; and
At least one year of prior professional experience in a similar post, reporting experience preferred.
Certificates or Licenses: bachelor degree from recognized university, training certificates
