Danish DRc is looking for Senior Protection Officer
Aim, DRC s UNHCR funded community-based protection project focusing on enhancing information and counselling to beneficiaries within the DRC/DRC supported community centres as well as strengthening the outreach capacity through awareness raising sessions on protection topics.

DRC has been operating in Turkey since early 2013, working with by and large with non-camp Syrian refugees and affected host communities. The overall objective for DRC in Turkey is the protection and promotion of durable solutions to displacement affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights with more immediate objectives focusing both on the immediate subsistence needs, protection and self-reliance support as well as a more long term focus on capacity building. In Turkey, DRC works partially through partners, also providing intensive capacity building support, while also conducting direct implementation.
About the Job
DRC is looking for a Senior Protection Officer for its programme in Turkey. Under the direct supervision of the Protection Manager, Senior Protection Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
Management of 1 protection officer and 4 protection assistants
Facilitating and coordinate activities within the team and with other DRC’s departments
Maintain professional links to other agencies engaged in protection work within Hatay.
Provide capacity building for Protection Officers, Protection Assistants and volunteers in technical protection topics.
Oversee and coordinate community based protection activities.
Facilitate the continuous assessment process and provide support to staff conducting the assessments when needed.
Coordinate inter-agency referral process, including medical and resettlement referrals.
Ensure activities, including monitoring, are conform to basic protection requirements.
Work closely with the monitoring team and Protection Manager on all protection projects
Any other duties as agreed with the DRC Protection Manager
To be successful in this role, you must have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in international human rights, law, sociology, social work, or other relevant field
At least 1-2 years of relevant professional protection experience with a humanitarian aid Organization. Minimum 1 year in a similar position
Sound understanding of protection principles, issues and legal frameworks; preferably with experience
Experience working in the field (preferably experience from Southern Turkey)
Experience managing teams
Fluency in Turkish and English, both written and verbal. Arabic is an assist
You have to hold a Turkish citizenship or residency or valid passport with valid visa (the residency application will be required at the moment of the recruitment)

What we offer:
DRC Turkey offers a contract of 10 months with the possibility of extension (depending on funding). The position will be based in Hatay with regular travel to other DRC Turkey offices in the country as directed. We offer a fair compensation package depending on your qualification and experiences.
